Theo left the club with me! I’m literally soaring at that thought as we lace our fingers and speed walk the few blocks from the downtown club back to his waterfront house. He says the dorms are a turnoff, so who am I to argue.

My heartbeat is uneven, unsteady, unsure of what’s going to happen, but I’m thrilled all the same. I don’t dare question anything, happy to be along for the ride as Theo takes the lead.

When we get inside, he shuts the door and pushes me against it, kissing me deeply—wet, biting, and sloppy. When he pulls off me, he pants. “Don’t fall in love with me.”

“No promises,” I reply, worried that I’m pretty fucking close already.

He gets this mushy lovely look on his face that tells me my words cut him harder than he wants to admit. I scoop him up in my arms and carry him straight up the stairs. He’s so light to me, I have no trouble with the task.

When I set him down, he immediately locks his door and starts stripping. “Get naked,” he tells me, all business. I want to be the one to take off his clothes, unwrap my prize, but again, not questioning here. I do as he says.

“You’ve still not fucked anyone else?” He pauses with one leg in the air as he peels away his tight jeans.

“Nope. And that’s the easy truth.” Haven’t even been tempted. Maybe I should give up and move on. I just can’t bring myself to though, not when it feels like there’s a sliver of a chance I could get Theo.

“Why?” He finishes taking the jeans off, resuming his awkward and yet simultaneously cute-as-fuck striptease.

“Really? How do you not get it?” I ask, exasperated and equally shocked that he could ask me that.

He just shrugs, fixing the sweetest little look on his face.

“Because I fell for you, Theo.” I stop myself from making what was going to be a much longer confession, but I’m fine with that.

“I don’t believe in love,” he says quietly. “But I do believe in orgasms. Please.”

I sigh, ignoring the grief his words fill me with. How can someone not believe in love? Shit. My whole goal in life is to find what my parents have... what Nick and Noah have. And play pro hockey. But also to find my person. I think it could be Theo, as crazy as that sounds, even in my own mind. I just want a chance to find out, and he won’t give it to me. So yeah, his words fucking cut.

I’m not going to let them stop me tonight, though, because I’m a basic simp, and I want any scrap he’ll throw me. I finish taking off my socks and cross his room to take his naked body in my arms. It feels like I could wrap my arms around him twice he’s so small. “I’ll take whatever you’ll give me.”

“I’ll give you tonight,” he says back, and I have to swallow down the pain of his words.
